ABC's World News is ABC's nightly national newscast. The news program is anchored from New York and airs Monday through Friday and provides the latest news from around the nation and around the world. The program also utilizes all of the worldwide resources of ABC News, examining a wide array of topics, including breaking news, politics (foreign and domestic), feature stories with a national or international appeal, and on-going news coverage. The program is geared toward adults interested in world news and information. The show provides news throughout the evening on television through news feeds anchored live each night by Diane Sawyer. In addition to the anchored portions, reporter packages will be updated with the latest news for each feed. As of January 2, 2006, World News Tonight also produces a live daily Webcast. This marks the first time an evening newscast has produced a unique program for the Internet audience. The Web site also includes correspondents and anchors reports available throughout the day, even before the newscasts; interactive presentations, additional video and in-depth information relating to stories aired or airing on World News Tonight, in the Broadcast Plus portion of the site; extended-play versions of select, high-impact anchor packages and special reports; unaired portions of interviews with newsmakers and ABC News contributors; round-the-clock updates on the latest news; and the Blue Sheet, which is the broadcast's daily blog, which provides stimulating conversation, provokes thought and demystifyies the process of putting the broadcast together. This show offers a digital podcast. A podcast is a downloadable video or audio broadcast show. Most podcasts are available by subscription through an RSS reader or other aggregator. The fundamentals of working with podcasters are the same as with traditional journalists at traditional media outlets: respect their schedules; take time to watch or listen to their material to learn their interests; and only contact them if/when they want to be contacted.
