WMYD-TV is the MyNetworkTV affiliate for the Detroit market. The station is owned by E.W. Scripps Co. WMYD-TV broadcasts locally on channel 20. The station DOES NOT do any satellite interviews and is only looking for materials relevant to the Detroit area.
The station originally signed on in 1968 as WXON-TV. In 1995, the station made the transition from an independent station to a WB affiliate. In January 1997, Granite Broadcasting Corp. acquired the station, and as a result, the station made another transition by changing its call letters to WDWB-TV in October of that year. WDWB-TV was Granite Broadcasting Corp.'s first WB affiliate. Call letters were changed to WMYD-TV in May 2006, anticipating the station's conversion to a MyNetworkTV affiliate in fall 2006. Coverage spans to the following counties: Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Lapeer, Livingston, Washtenaw, Monroe, St. Claire, Windsor, and Canada. In 1998, the station was honored with the Top Hat Award for brand growth by the WB Television Network. The station can be contacted at any point during the business day.
