WGBH-TV started out as a radio station then expanded its capabilities to television. The letters GBH stand for 'great blue hill' in Milton where the radio transmitter is located. WGBH International is a world-wide broadcast distribution department of WGBH Enterprises, which licenses all WGBH productions and programs.
