WDSU-TV is the NBC affiliate on channel 6 in the greater New Orleans area. The station is owned by Hearst Television Inc. and airs local news daily. Local news segments include cooking sessions on the noon newscast, fishing advice and Mardi Gras previews and reviews when in season. WDSU-TV has been providing local news for its viewers since 1948. When the station originated, it was a radio station. By the time it made the crossover to television, it was the first television station in Louisiana and one of the first 50 television stations in the United States. The station provides the latest reports in news, weather, and sports. Among its segments and reports are health, money, technology, entertainment, and consumer issues.
