The move is in response to reader demand for a seven-day offering of both titles and closer alignment of The Herald brand. As a result, the Sunday Herald newspaper has now closed. Donald Martin, Editor-in-Chief of Newsquest Scotland, will edit the new seven-day-a-week Herald. Callum Baird will continue to be Editor of The National. Readers will still be able to access five articles a month free of charge, plus another five at no additional cost for users who register. The new paper has been created by the Newsquest-owned Herald & Times Group, the team behind the Sunday Herald - the only newspaper in Scotland to back independence. The 50p title can be purchased Monday to Friday from most newsagents and supermarkets. It is also available as an electronic edition for those wishing to read it online.
