Founded in 1908, The Christian Science Monitor is recognized as one of the leading U.S. newspapers specializing in international reporting. With a reputation for balanced coverage of complex issues and in-depth analysis of events, the award-winning paper offers both news and features from its 16 bureaus in the U.S. and abroad and from freelance reporters across the globe.
The print edition is distributed in the United States and Canada, while MonitorWorld, a weekly print edition, is available by subscription in other countries. Additionally, the Monitor Treeless Edition, a digital replica of the print edition, can be purchased online anywhere in the world. Articles can also be read free of charge on the newspaper's website which averages 4 million unique visitors per month and features exclusive Web reports as well as an archive dating back to 1980. Because the paper's deadline is midday, it is best to try to reach editors in the afternoon. Please send press materials via e-mail.
Media Alert: Wednesday 5th November 2008
In April 2009 The Christian Science Monitor will become the first national newspaper to drop its daily print edition and will focus on its online edition. The Monitor succumbed to financial struggles but will still continue to print a weekend edition. The publication, which currently gets about 5 million page-views per month, is known for its in-depth international reporting, particularly on the Middle East. It will refocus all reporting and editorial assets onto the Web.
