The magazine, which is run by students and volunteers, includes news, reviews features and chat and is aimed at 15-25 year olds. It is part of Spark Sunderland, who already produce Spark FM. Spark Sunderland is a community media project run by students and volunteers, which was set up by the media and journalism department at Sunderland University. They already produce Spark FM and a monthly e-magazine, and are now branching out into print with help from Northeast Press. Spark magazine printing costs and advertising sales will be covered by Northeast Press. The first issue of the magazine will coincide with the Sunderland International Airshow on 20 July.
