ViewGGood HousekeepingGood Housekeeping is published by Hearst and written for the contemporary homemaker. Articles focus on food, nutrition, fashion, beauty, relationships, home decorating, health, child care, and other consumer and social issues. Each issue delivers a unique mix of inspirational and personal stories, trusted information, and closely researched investigations and reports. Also there are tips for getting organized, and recipes for quick, healthy meals. While they don't designate a part of the magazine for green coverage they do take environmental considerations into account throughout each issue, so pitch accordingly. When sending green products be sure that they save readers time and money. Pitch recycling topics and remember that value and quality are most important to readers. Avoid sending too many luxury items as they rarely, if ever, cover luxury goods or services. When pitching products always be mindful of the staffs' deadlines. They typically work three to four months in advance. Be sure to include price, availability and other pertinent shopping details.

ViewThe New RepublicEstablished in 1914 and geared toward individuals involved in the legislative process at federal, state, local and grass root levels. Designed to cover public affairs from an insider's vantage point. Provides readers with a rigorous examination of American politics, foreign policy and culture. Includes news and editorials on domestic and international issues. Features current events, politics, education, books, theater, film, music, art and culture. If you are pitching an idea for an essay, reportage, or other nonfiction, briefly explain your angle, why it’s timely, and why you’re equipped to write it; generously hyperlink any references and citations in your pitch, so the editor can easily vet it. If you are sending a completed submission, briefly summarize it in your email and either embed or attach your full article. In all cases, include a brief biography and links to examples of your work. The staff will not respond to a pitch that is sent to multiple editors, so it is encouraged to determine where your piece best fits—within the online verticals or within the pages of the magazine—and limit your email to one editor. This outlet offers RSS (Really Simple Syndication).
