Launched in 1936 as the official publication of Consumer Reports, Consumer Reports magazine reaches more than 3 million people and has received numerous awards. Consumer Reports was the first to test and report on critical, life-or-death issues including the true levels of tar and nicotine in cigarettes, the risk of radiation from microwave ovens, and the potential for SUVs to rollover. Consumer Reports evaluates thousands of products across more than 100 categories in home and garden, appliances, electronics, cars, and health. Consumer Reports does not accept any advertising or free samples from manufacturers. The only ads in the magazine are for other products and services from CR. Consumer Reports is a nonprofit, mission-driven organization that works for and with consumers to create a fairer, safer, and more transparent marketplace. CR reaches tens of millions of people across print, broadcast, and digital media, which includes the flagship website ConsumerReports.org, Consumer Reports magazine, Consumer Reports on Health, Consumer 101, Taller del Consumidor, as well as special interest publications such as buying guides for kitchen appliances, electronics, and cars. For more than 80 years, CR has provided evidence-based product testing and ratings, rigorous research, hard-hitting investigative journalism, public education, and steadfast policy action on behalf of consumers’ interests. CR does not accept advertising and pays for all of the products it evaluates.
