When IT Meets Politics is a blog that is a blog about UK politics and the information society.
Philip Virgo has been involved with the politics of information technology (from the liberalisation and privatisation of telecoms and the micros in schools programme, through the original Data Processing legisation, the computerisation of PAYE, the extension of copyright to cover computer software, ID cards and RIPA to current debates over broadband, privacy, surveillance and the digital single market. His current professional and political focus is "on the actions necessary to position London at the heart of the on-line world (as it is at the heart of global trade and financial services)". He uses his blog to draw attention to opportunities to influence political, regulatory and professional debate (UK, EU and International), including consultation exercises. His recurrent theme is “The silent majority gets what is deserved - ignored’.
