Founded in 1909 and distributed to the members of the Auto Club of Southern California, the region's AAA affiliate. Covers regional, national and international travel, as well as food, lifestyle, recreation and automotive topics.
Contains four departments: Up Front, Travel, Automotive and Lifestyle. Each department offers one or two feature-length articles. Up Front contains: Turning Point, offering a letter from the editor; Bulletin Board, featuring news items from the auto club; Legislative Update, covering legal developments of interest to motorists; and A Sense of Place, a personal travel article written by notable guest columnists.
Travel includes: What's New... Travel, offering short travel tips, vacation suggestions, and travel news items; Connections, offering general travel advice; City Views, profiling a non-western US city; Western Landmarks, covering a notable West Coast attraction; and Day Tripping, profiling a Southern California destination.
Lifestyle offers: What's New... Lifestyle, covering entertainment, recreation, food and the arts; Eight Great..., listing eight themed attractions or destinations; On the Money, offering personal finance advice; Bon Apétit, covering West Coast food, cuisine and restaurants; The Wine Cellar, offering wine appreciation tips; Calendar, listing recreational events in southern California; and After Dark, covering regional nightlife.
Automotive contains: What's New... Automotive, featuring short model reviews and short pieces on topics such as emissions and road safety; Overdrive, covering automotive repair and maintenance and automotive-related finance issues such as car loans, leasing and car buying; and Roads to Roam, which profiles a destination for West Coast car travelers and offers a short review of a car model appropriate to the trip.
