The Chess Improver is a personal blog about chess from an International Grandmaster. The blog is run by Grandmaster Nigel Davies, who lives in Southport, Merseyside. He won the British (under-21) Boys Championship in 1979 and the British Rapidplay Chess Championship in 1987. He's also written several books on chess tactics and produced several DVDs. In addition to running his blog, Nigel tutors students in chess. His other interests include the arts of Chi Kung and Tai Chi and reading books about health and the mind. The Chess Improver includes Nigel's musings and thoughts on chess in general in addition to tips and puzzles to solve. He also recommends websites and networks to play chess online, posts videos of tournaments or footage of notable players, and recounts stories of training his son and his other students.
