Spoons on Trays is blog responding to current exhibitions, galleries, conferences, books and sector discussions. It provides space for a series of thought-pieces and reviews. Katy explains that the name came about when 'I battled to establish myself in a small corner of the museum employment sector, my friends watched in bemusement, unsure of what I was actually doing with my time. It became, I’m not sure where from, a running joke that my curatorial profession involved arranging objects on trays, specifically spoons, which would be secured with a hot glue gun to ensure no further re-arrangement need ever be attempted. The standard mode of enquiry for how my work was going became "how are the spoons?"'
The blog posts are written by Katy Barrett. a historian, curator and digital media enthusiast. Pieces are aimed at a general audience. Katy is the Curator of Art, pre-1800 at Royal Museums Greenwich who is interested in the intersections between histories of art and science.
