Spitalfields Life is a commercial blog that is based in London, in an old house beside Brick Lane in the east end of London. The blog is predominantly aimed at a UK audience and more specifically London and the east of London.
The blog was founded in August 2009 by anonymous author and blogger who goes by the name of The Gentle Author. The blogger who is anonymous made a statement on finding the blog which stated, "Over the coming days, weeks, months and years, I am going to write every single day and tell you about life here in Spitalfields at the heart of London." The project has blossomed since that statement and there is now a book about the blog which was published in March 2012 called Spitalfields Life: In the Midst of Life I Woke to Find Myself Living in an Old House Beside Brick Lane in the East End of London. The Gentle Author is also doing a talk at the Southbank Centre in June.
The blog tells the life of people in the Spitalfields area. Every day the blogger posts a new story about people from the area. From ordinary folk to cultural figures to chefs and even animals. The categories include Animal Life, Criminal Life, Culinary Life, Cultural Life, Human Life, Literary Life, Market Life, Night Life, Past Life, Photo Life, Plant Life, Sex Life, Spiritual Life and Street Life. The blog is a mixture of photographs in the style of such blogs like The Sartorialist but it also includes editorial content in the form of interviews with people from the area.
PR opportunities mainly exist in the form of reviews, but must always be in the east of London. The best way to contact the blog is on the email address provided or alternatively via Twitter.
