Slugger O’Toole is a news and opinion portal, which takes a critical look at various strands of political politics in Ireland, Britain and the rest of the world. It tries to bring its readers ‘open source analysis’ from both the mainstream media and the blogosphere. The blog is constantly on the look out for opportunities to add value to the debate of matters of regional, national and international concern.
Slugger O’Toole was founded in June 2002 by Belfast-based Writer and Blogger Mick Fealty. A Digital Coach and Media Analyst, Mick initially set up the blog to focus primarily on Northern Irish politics and culture. Since its inception however, the site has grown to incorporate the rest of Britain and the World. Mick remains the blog’s current Editor.
Recent blog posts include Check your (unionist) Priviledge, A cautious welcome for Bombardier's apparent rescue, 7 thoughts from the Ard Fheis as Fianna Fail begins to "spread out but stick together", "The Laws of Nature Need Not Apply Here" - Ophelia is a sign of things to come and A Question of Identity.
PR opportunities exist but are limited to news, political book reviews, events, seminars, conferences and awards. The primary language of Slugger O’Toole is English but the site also hosts blogs in Irish and Welsh, in addition to some online advertising.
