Background and Format:
nerdly (formerly Blogomatic3000) is the UK’s home for all your pop culture needs. From cool videos to awesome artwork, news on fantastic events, plus a whole heap of reviews – they cover the best in pop culture: be it comics, movies, TV, DVD, Blu-ray, technology, toys, apps and video games! If it’s nerdly we’ve got it covered! They pride ourselves on not recycling news content from other sites, aiming to bring the readers fresh, never seen before content each and every day. They also deliver 5 pieces of original content a day, every 2 hours between 10am and 6pm (UK time) – such as reviews, podcasts or features; on top of the usual pop culture news cycle! They aim to cover the widest possible range of topics – with writers focusing on their specialist areas: wrestling, movies, horror, comics, video games, etc. All backed by a wealth of geeky experience. They also give special attention to independent movies and direct to DVD/VOD movies, comics and apps; as well as promoting crowd-funding campaigns through their monthly ‘Back This’ column.
The Blogger:
nerdly was founded in April 2009 by Editor and Blogger Phil Wheat. Formerly a Graphic Designer and Reprographic Artist, Phil initially set up the blog as more of a personal online journal. But what started off as a personal project has since matured into a full-fledged commercial site boasting an extensive archive as well as online advertising. The posts are also written by senior editor Kat Wheat as well as contributors and content producers who've decided to make Nerdly their second home.
PR Opportunities:
The team is open to hearing from PRs with press releases, review copies and competition prizes provided opportunities pertain to the above listed topics. PRs are therefore encouraged to familiarise themselves with blog content before they consider approaching. The Editor can be best contacted via email.
