Monthly Labor Review is the official journal of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Provides information about the economy and the American workforce, including current labor statistics, unemployment studies and global labor reports.
The following departments appear in Monthly Labor Review with varying frequencies:
-Book reviews analyze the merits of today's books for the Review audience.
-Beyond BLS briefly summarizes articles, newsletter items, reports, working papers, etc., from the information that passes across the MLR editors’ desks.
-Flashback may present a factoid of interest or a link to a historic MLR article on a relevant topic.
-Letters to the editor provide an opportunity to learn about other readers’ opinions.
Monthly Labor Review DOES accept bylined articles/submissions on the bureau's major program areas: employment and unemployment; compensation and working conditions; productivity and technology; occupational safety and health; industry, occupational, and employment projections; and prices and living conditions. All papers submitted to the Review must be factual analyses not published elsewhere, and objective and analytical, rather than polemical in tone. The lead time for The Wall Street Journal Reports is three to five months, although stories are often developed during the two or three months immediately preceding the issue. The lead time for Marketplace and Enterprise is two months. Deadlines are at 5:30pm ET for in-depth business and Marketplace stories and 3pm ET for shorter stories.
