Lavender and Lovage is an individual food and lifestyle blog based in the UK. It was founded in June 2011 and provides recipes, reviews, advice and other features centered on "traditional British cuisine throughout the seasons", as well as French cuisine and lifestyle. In recent years it has grown to cover travel extensively also.
Blogger Karen Burns-Booth was born in South Africa and raised in a cottage in rural Northumbria. Her family foraged for wild herbs, kept chickens and grew their own fruits and vegetables while she was growing up. Karen also lived in Hong Kong, Cornwall, Berkshire, Lincolnshire, Hampshire, Scotland and Herefordshire before moving to North Yorkshire where she currently resides. She has a BA in Graphic Design and Advertising and a MA in English Literature and previously worked in printing and publishing. Karen is currently writing a cookbook featuring all-original recipes. She is also a Freelance Writer who contributes regularly to Country Kitchen magazine, as well as many other British and European publications and websites. Karen splits her time between Yorkshire and Southwest France, where she helps run a cookery school.
Most posts on Lavender and Lovage consist of recipes, which can be viewed by numerous categories including Appetisers, Baking, Beverages, Lamb, Pasta, Preserves, Snacks and Vegetarian, among others. Recipes often include lengthy introductions from Karen describing the dish's history, its various ingredients or her personal connection to the dish. Karen also reviews cookbooks, food products and occasionally other home products. Other posts include Monday Meal Plans, detailing Karen's cooking plans for the week, or blogging events such as Herbs on Saturday where she encourages readers to share their recipes using homegrown herbs. Karen is also a Digital Food Photographer and all posts contain her original, high-quality images.
Karen is open to receiving products and services for review, provided they are relevant to her audience. "I am also happy to attend events, open days, press trips and brand launches throughout the UK and beyond," she says. "I will always feature the products I receive, press days and events on my blog, with a thanks and appropriate links." She can also host guest posts and sponsored posts. In addition, Karen is available for commissions, recipe development and guest posts on other publications.
