Launched in 2009, Striking Mum is a blog in support of mothers aiming to get them into a positive state and follow their dreams. On the blog there are plenty of posts of advice and encouragement. The aim is to get mothers that might have experienced post natal depression or a loss of sense of self after having children and falling into a routine family life, to get back to their states of dreams, plans and goals, and Striking Mum hopes to give them the push they need to get there. The aim is to inspire and suggest ideas that other mothers may not have thought about previously.
The blog was started in 2009 by Kate Davis-Holmes, after her late adoptive mother suggested blogging as a way to help her deal with and work her way out of post-natal depression. Along the journey, the blog has resulted in some amazing memorable moments for Kate, including awards and trips across the globe to places such as the US. Kate works as a freelance copywriter, blogger and social media consultant based in the South-East of England.
The blog consists of many different sections including News, Support, Inspire, Live, Give, Taste, Explore, Slim, Remember and Win. There are sections called; About the Striking Mum, PR Friendly Blog, For Hire!, What's Your Story?, Community and linky and Contact Us. The blog exists as a tool of support, motivation and inspiration for mothers to get back out there and follow their dreams. Kate hopes that with her blog she can inspire mums to reach their goals and gain the courage, self confidence and self esteem to do exactly what they want. Every Sunday there will be a post, guaranteed, aiming to inspire mums. Kate has a strong interest in the wellbeing of women and mums and in supporting the idea that mothers matter - her posts convey this ideology throughout the blog.
Striking Mums is a PR friendly blog, with PR opportunities including sponsored posts, advertisement, competitions and giveaways, reviews and travel opportunities. As Kate's children are all 9 years+, she is not willing to review products aimed at children of younger ages. The best way to get in touch with her is via email.
