WBUR-FM is a non-commercial station. The format of the station is news and talk. WBUR-FM broadcast to the Boston area at 90.9 FM. WBUR debuted in 1950 as a low-power educational station owned by Boston University. The station became a National Public Radio member station in 1980 and established its identity as a news station.
