Background and format:
Heart Essex is a local radio station that aims to broadcast classic and contemporary hits, local and national news and information for Essex. It was rebranded from Essex FM. The majority of broadcasting is now networked, except for local breakfast shows from 6am to 10am, and local afternoon shows from 4pm to 7pm. It is available on 96.3 - 102.6 FM, DAB Digital Radio and Online.

Global Radio has announced that the final stage of its Heart rebrand across the UK will be completed on 22nd June. 2CR, Champion 103, Coast 96.3, Essex FM, Invicta FM, Marcher Sound, Ocean FM, Southern FM and Wirral's Buzz 97.1 will all become Heart stations; raising the total number to 33 in the network. All of the stations will produce and present their own local programming between the hours of 6-10am and 1-7pm Monday to Friday and between 8am-midday on a Saturday and Sunday. The news teams at the stations remain unchanged.
