Background and Format: Capital Yorkshire is a regional radio station owned by Global Radio as part of the Capital radio network. It broadcasts to South & West Yorkshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire from studios in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The station launched at 1.05pm on 14 February 1997 as Kiss 105, but became Galaxy 105 later that year after a take over by the Chrysalis Group, then in 2006 it became simply Galaxy Yorkshire. The station was rebranded as 105 Capital on 3 January 2011 as part of a merger of Global Radio's Galaxy and Hit Music networks to form the nine-station Capital radio network. It broadcasts modern chart music, including the likes of Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith and Ellie Goulding, and is available on 105.8 FM, 105.1 FM, DAB Digital Radio and Online. Advertising information can be found here. Broadcasts bulletins containing a mix of Yorkshire, UK and world news together with sport, entertainment, travel and weather information on the hour from 05:00 to 19:00 on weekdays and 06:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays and Sundays.  There are additional updates at 05.30, 06.30, 07.30, 08.30, 17:30 and 18:30 on weekdays. Capital Yorkshire's programming is locally produced and presented for 7 hours each weekday and 4 hours on Saturdays and Sundays. From early January 2011 the new network will reach an audience of more than 6.3m people broadcasting in major cities across the UK. The flagship Capital London will now be joined by another eight stations creating a national network with programming that is locally focused. Capital will replace the six Galaxy stations operating in Scotland, South Coast, Birmingham, and Manchester, Yorkshire and North East as well as the current Hit Music Network stations Red Dragon, Trent, RAM and Leicester Sound. From 2011 the network will be known as “95 - 106 Capital FM, The UK’s No.1 Hit Music Station”. In each area across the country breakfast and drivetime shows will remain locally produced and all programming will remain locally focused.
