Background and Format: Launched in 1985, BBC Radio Shropshire is the BBC's local radio station for the county of Shropshire. It broadcasts a mix of entertainment, news and debate, local information, including travel, weather and music, and aims to reflect life in the county in an entertaining and friendly manner. The station provides a range of news and information about Shropshire along with national and international news. Some parts of the day (breakfast and teatime) are mainly news-focused, while at other times content will include a wider range of local events, people and places of interest. BBC Radio Shropshire is available on 96FM across much of the county from the main Wrekin transmitter.
