Established in response to the emergence of a substantial research interest in philosophy as applied to nursing and health care, the Journal aims to provide a unique forum for discussion of issues at the very foundations of nursing theory and practice. Publishing original research papers, dialogues, critical responses and books reviews, the Journal aims to critically analyse the conception and differing accounts of the role of the nurse and the relevance of intellectual movements to nursing. Content: Papers that explore other aspects of philosophical enquiry and analysis of relevance to nursing (and any other healthcare or social care activity) are also welcome and might include, but not be limited to, critical discussions of the work of nurse theorists who have advanced philosophical claims as well as critical engagement with philosophers whose work informs health care in general and nursing in particular.
