KASA-TV is the Telemundo affiliate for the Alburquerque, NM market. The station is owned by Ramar Communications. KASA-TV broadcasts locally on channel 2. The station first went on the air on May 8, 1981 as KGSW-TV. At that time, it was an independent station and aired on channel 14. The station's call letters were derived from Galaxy Broadcasting and Southwest Television, the two groups that owned the station. On September 25, 1984, channel 14 was purchased by the Providence Journal Company of Providence, RI. KGSW-TV channel 14 converted to KASA-TV channel 2 on April 5, 1993. The A.H. Belo Corporation of Dallas acquired the Providence Journal Corporation, including KASA-TV, in 1997. In 1999, KASA-TV was acquired by Raycom Media of Montgomery, AL. In February 2007 the station was purchased by LIN Television Corp. The station was a FOX affiliate until 2017.
