Background and Format: Economy is a news and entertainment platform providing fortnightly features made up of a number of different articles on economics-related issues, from renting, to workers’ rights, to the gig economy. We use current news hooks and audience research to identify the topics people want demystified, and produce explainers, first-person interviews, expert commentary and simple animations to make economics accessible, relevant, and engaging. Audience and Readership: 22-35, English-speaking, in or seeking work, on UK median income, likely to have voted but do not engage actively with current affairs. Interested in issues that affect them personally e.g. house prices, debt levels, and keen to develop opinions on bigger issues e.g. healthcare, Brexit, but currently disengaged from / alienated by complexity, bias and abstract nature of media and political narrative on the above. '65% of our current audiences are in the 18-34 age bracket. Information on Google Analytics as to our readers’ interests indicates an even split across categories of interest, from sports, to entertainment, to news. Approximately 55% of our readers find us via organic search, 25% from social media channels, and 20% by directly accessing our website' (Source: Publisher) Deadline: They produce fortnightly features, deciding topics on a Monday and preparing the fortnightly newsletter release for EOP the following Thursday. Time of Publication: Articles are published every 1-3 days, with full features released every 2 weeks. Features are released Thursday evenings. Monthly Unique Users: 12,000 to 15,000 per month. Other Information: As a charity they are unable to commission writers so most content is produced in-house but they are grateful for the occasional voluntary contribution to their content also.
