Launched in December 2005, Damp Flat Books is a visual arts blog and website managed by Jackie Batey that represents a selection of her artist's books and multiples over the years, all of which can be purchased via email and some are available online. She tries to include some work-in-progress pieces, images from her sketchbook and reference images. The British Library invited dampflat.blogspot.co.uk to participate in their web archiving programme. Through this her blog was selected and archived to represent aspects of UK documentary heritage and as a result, will remain available to researchers in the future. Jackie Batey who manages the blog is an Artist based in Brighton. Jackie produces Artist's Books, which are limited and handmade zines and single images, many of them satirical under the brand name Damp Flat Books which was established in 1999. Her artist's books are held in many permanent collections such as the V&A Museum, Tate Britain, The Getty Institute in Los Angeles and the Joan Flasch Collection in Chicago. She creates Art Zines, one which is a series called Future Fantasteek! and the other is a collection of art zines called Zineopolis. Other than this, Jackie is a Course Leader in MA Illustration as well as a Senior Lecturer on Illustration BA (Hons) at the the University of Portsmouth. The blog has different page tabs including an About Me section, Artist's Books, Damp Flat Books in Collections, News, Prices and Shop, Contact, Zines: Future Fantasteek! Printmaking: Pale Ire Press, Research and The Archive. Some of the different topics on the blog are zines, workshops, work in progress, publications, PhD, printmaking, new books and zines, ibooks, exhibitions, conferences and lectures, and sections dedicated to the many artist's books by Jackie including Be Nice when It's Finished, Anxious Homes, Evil Eyes, Null and Void, Running a Secret Society and Damp in Ditchwater.
