About

Bio

Aimed at social workers, directors of service, chief executives and mental health professionals, Social Work News reflects positively on how those working in the diverse and challenging field of social care are helping to transform peoples’ lives through real life examples, insightful and expert advice on professional development. Each issue features the latest news, stories and announcements relating to the profession. Every edition includes guest articles, special reports and interviews with those involved in the social work profession; from frontline social workers through to influential government figures and those who support and supply products to social services. Articles are written with the social worker in mind, which is why many readers reference the magazine as part of their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The team is continually looking to cover stories relating to (but not limited to) children's social work, adult social work, mental health, child protection, adult care, grooming, sexual exploitation, gang culture, domestic abuse, homelessness and vulnerable people. Full back issues can be read online at www.issuu.com/socialworknews.  The editorial deadline falls two months prior to the issue date, with the magazine published on the 1st of January, April, July and October. Advice for PRs: Please think about longevity and relevancy. As a quarterly publication, content will steer away from date-specific articles. The magazine needs to remain relevant throughout its lifespan. Please also consider relevancy; the readership is those working within health and social care therefore any pitches must be directly relevant to readers. SWNM is happy to accept feature pitches and article suggestions as long as they have a clear relevancy to social workers - a top tip is to consider "why would a social worker need to know this?".
