Background and Format: On 2 June 2014, Sky News launched its new flagship business show, Ian King Live. The show is hosted by Business Presenter, Ian King, and tackles the major business and economics stories of the day. Ian puts business leaders and policy makers through their paces and aims to help Sky News customers understand how the major corporate decisions made in The City affect their lives. The show aims to run three to four stories, story news from the markets, a consumer or corporate story or something economical, with an interview for each story and a VT slot if they can fit one in, including a markets segment. As Ian King Live’s promotional slogan announced, “If it matters, it matters to me”. Everyday Ian’s trying to get under the skin of the three or four big business stories of the day, and these could be a story from the markets, a consumer or corporate story or something economical. There's an attitude that nothing should be off limits. Due to the size and scope of the show (30 mins), by definition the team will be looking at bigger businesses. The show is broadcast out of Sky News' studios at the top of The Gherkin tower. It can be viewed on Freeview Channel 132. Target Audience: The size of the audience of Sky News - which is watched in 108 million homes in 118 countries around the world dictates the global breadth of the coverage that the show gives. Viewers of the show are likely to be younger than the channel as a whole and more "upscale". Viewers are mostly male city workers, and the programme is viewed globally. A global audience that goes beyond Europe and shown in up to 180 countries. As the programme straddles professional and domestic audiences Ian King thinks it is important that it approaches the business agenda in a grown-up manner and that the content can’t be “Janet and John type stuff”. Production Company: Sky Plc Schedule times: Monday to Friday, 1:30-2pm Target Audience: Sky News targets viewers of all ages.
