Open Culture is a commercial art blog that is based in Liverpool that is predominantly aimed at a UK audience; although it is specifically aimed at those people thinking of visiting Liverpool or who already live in the area.
Open Culture blog is the official blog of Open Culture, which is a website and initiative that aims to increase the profile of, and engagement with arts and culture on Merseyside. It was first founded in 2007 by Charlotte Corrie and Christina Grogan. Prior to becoming an independent community interest company we were part of the Liverpool Culture Company for Liverpool European Capital of Culture 2008. The site aims to give members of the public and the arts community in Merseyside a place to find and share events, news and opportunities.
The site covers subjects such as exhibitions, performances, workshops, activity days, talks and participatory projects. Charlotte and Christina say, "Culture is for everyone and the arts provide the means to express ourselves and connect with others in ways that other forms of communication can’t achieve. We believe arts and culture should lie at the heart of all Social Policy, as they improve quality of life and wellbeing for individuals and communities in terms of Regeneration, Health, Education and Crime Reduction, as has been proved time and again." The site is split into three main sections that include Things To See, Things To Do and Noticeboard. On average the blog is updated two or three times a week.
