Newsnet.scot (formerly known as Newsnet Scotland) was launched on 12th March 2010 by a small group of unpaid volunteers from Greenock. The site was set up in order to address what the group believed to be an imbalance in the reporting of Scottish News and current affairs. A not-for-profit organisation the group supports major constitutional change for Scotland "whether it be full fiscal autonomy or full independence". The central aim is to provide an examination of Scottish current affairs - News, Politics, Culture and Economy. The magazine section also includes features on Scottish life.
In December 2014 Newsnet Scotland merged with the podcast service Bateman Broadcasting, and was relaunched as newsnet.scot. It was edited by the founder, G A Ponsonby, until just after the 2014 Scottish referendum.
Previous entries in the Newsnet Scotland blog include Will it be a Yes For NHS or Currency No Thanks?, Huge North Sea oil find enough for over thirty five years, The Dirty Dozen - The case against BBC Scotland: Part 1, What does the Yes campaign have that No doesn't?, A currency union would save the rest of the UK from Ed Balls, Oppose the plan to move nuclear waste by sea, Catalona in Scotland's Independence Slipstream and Scotland's Two Referendums. The posts are added several times a month.
PR opportunities include news and interviews related to Politics and News & Current Affairs. The team can best be reached via contact form or their social media platforms.
