Lifetime is a national cable network dedicated to providing a wide variety of contemporary women's interest programming. This includes original movies, mini-series, celebrity close-ups, comedies, and lifestyle shows dealing with trends and issues of concern to women. Launched on February 1, 1984, Lifetime Television Network was created by the merger of Daytime and Cable Health Network (CHN). Daytime, operated by Hearst/ABC Video Services, began in March 1982 as a four-hour-per-day weekday service featuring alternative programming for women. CHN, operated by Viacom, debuted in June 1982 as a 24-hour service offering programs on personal and family health, fitness, science and medicine. Lifetime was branded "Television for Women" in 1995. The network, which reaches 91 million homes, is complimented by www.mylifetime.com, which was established on April 2, 1996. The site offers the latest information on health and fitness, home and hobbies, family and friends, and other information for women and the people in their lives. Parent company rebranded its name from A&E Television Network to A+E Networks in May 2011. In May 2012, the network rebranded to use the tagline, "Your Life. Your Time."
All submissions for Lifetime programming must be directed to the programming department in writing. Phone pitches are not accepted. All submissions must either come from an agent or an entertainment attorney. Once backed with representation, submissions should be faxed or mailed, Attention: Programming. The appropriate person will then contact you directly if interested.
