Background & Format: Lessons in Badassery is a personal blog about "badass women in sport, fitness and adventure." The blog provides a mixture of sport content with Katie blogging about whatever interests her. Many posts are interviews with Olympic and professional athletes which are written quoting them and include photographs. Others include posts in a question and answer format with athletes, interviews with other journalists and videos of athletes. She also does report of events like mountain festivals. The Blogger: Lessons in Badassery is written by Katie Spryka who started the blog while working as a journalist and copywriter for Women’s Running magazine, Red Bull and The Red Bulletin.  "Lessons in Badassery is my blog; a personal project that combines my love of sport and adventure with my love of reading about amazing, inspirational women. It will be my own source of inspiration (I won’t lie, there will be a lot of hero-worshipping!) – I mean, who doesn’t enjoy hearing about strong, kickass ladies?" PR Opportunities: PR opportunities are available in the form of collaborations with athletes and writing about events and kit. Katie can best be reached at Katie@lessonsinbadassery.com

    Good Housekeeping

Good Housekeeping is published by Hearst and written for the contemporary homemaker. Articles focus on food, nutrition, fashion, beauty, relationships, home decorating, health, child care, and other consumer and social issues. Each issue delivers a unique mix of inspirational and personal stories, trusted information, and closely researched investigations and reports. Also there are tips for getting organized, and recipes for quick, healthy meals. While they don't designate a part of the magazine for green coverage they do take environmental considerations into account throughout each issue, so pitch accordingly. When sending green products be sure that they save readers time and money. Pitch recycling topics and remember that value and quality are most important to readers. Avoid sending too many luxury items as they rarely, if ever, cover luxury goods or services. When pitching products always be mindful of the staffs' deadlines. They typically work three to four months in advance. Be sure to include price, availability and other pertinent shopping details.
