This month, the team at Farmers Weekly are winners of Yara ‘Arable / Grassland’ and ‘Livestock / Environment’ awards at the Guild of Agricultural Journalists Awards 2011. For the ‘Arable / Grassland’ category Mike Abram reported on research that throws new light on an important topic for many arable farmers - how to control blackgrass. For the ‘Livestock / Environment’ category Livestock Editor Sarah Trickett gave farmers detailed guidance on how to assess when maize grown for winter cattle feed is at the perfect stage for harvesting.
