The newspaper launched in 1854 when it was published every Friday and a Tuesday edition was introduced in 2000. Johnston Press announced the plans to switch the newspaper back to a weekly edition, to be published every Friday, in November last year. The newspaper is now priced at 80p compared with the previous costs of 55p for the Friday paper and 50p for Tuesday’s edition.
