Vermont Public Television(VPT) is Vermont's network of PBS stations. Its six channels are 33 Burlington, 28 Rutland, 41 Windsor, 20 St. Johnsbury, 36 Manchester, and 53 Bennington. Vermont Public Television's mission is "to be the state's leading source of cultural and educational enrichment, building a lasting alliance with all Vermont residents by providing vital, diversified local and national programming and services, lifelong learning initiatives, and comunity outreach efforts." In addition to the PBS programming that is licensed for educational use, VPT broadcasts a half-hour of instructional programs each school day and distributes programs and resource materials to classroom teachers and home schoolers throughout the viewing area. The station's national programming topics include nature, science, history, documentary, public affairs, how-tos, performance, and classic movies. VPT produces a variety of programming to meet local interests. Their broadcast signal reaches throughout Vermont and into bordering regions of New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and southern Quebec.
