U.S.is that is designed to showcase and promote the exciting and emerging research produced by postgraduate and early career researchers in the American studies academic community. The forum also welcomes posts from established academics, as well as non-academic specialists, offering advice and support to help develop the professional and pedagogical skills of our cohort. Through this forum, the USSO blog aims to inspire a supportive intergenerational academic community. By engaging with various other online academic American Studies networks USSO will promote its blog content through the BAAS mailing list and international American Studies associations, as well as all humanities departments across the UK. The blog posts are collated and edited by Michelle Green (Co-Editor), Dr. Ben Offiler (Co-Editor), Emma Horrex (Assistant Editor) and Jade Tullett (Assistant Editor). It was worth noting that blog posts are submitted by guest contributors.The blog was launched in March 2014. Entries concentrate on fun and informal 60 seconds interviews; research posts that cover a range of disciplines and approaches including history, literature, politics, art, film and culture; book and conference reviews; Skills development and Careers posts from academics of all stages; Research across borders travel blogs; #Bookhour twitter chats and storify conversations; and collaborative Special Featured Blog Series initiatives that focus on one topic or theme such as Black History Month. PR opportunities include news, reviews and interviews related to Arts, especially New Writing.
