TBN/Trinity Broadcasting Network
Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) is the largest religious broadcasting network in the world. Launched on May 28, 1973 (then Channel 40 in Southern California), TBN became the first 24-hour Christian network, now producing more original Christian programming than any other religious network including gospel music concerts, coverage of major Christian events, and informative talk show. The network airs a variety of religious programming including: taped sermons; religious movies; health, nutrition and fitness programs; marriage enrichment shows; holiday specials; and children's programming. The programs Praise the Lord (TBN's flagship production) and Joy In Our Town air daily and both feature different ministers or their wives speaking about the gospel. Behind the Scenes is a 30-minute program in which the president of the network, Paul Crouch, talks about the latest religious news throughout the world. Prominent people stop by to chat on some shows, people from all walks of life: pastors from America's largest churches, astronauts, athletes, war heroes, movie stars, and country music entertainers, to name a few. TBN is self-owned and operated and is seen on over 2500 television stations, 17 satellites, the Internet, and thousands of cable systems around the world. TBN regularly views new programming ideas. PR professionals pitching a new show for acquisition should contact the program manager. To pitch a show idea or event coverage, PR professionals should contact the producer of the appropriate TBN show. The network is also interested in book reviews, events listings, personality profiles and interviews, and social trend stories. According to the network, TBN reaches about 3.75 million households per week. Programs are translated into numerous foreign languages at TBN's state-of-the-art facilities at the International Production Center in Irving, TX. The network does not air advertisements or public service announcements.
