It was founded in 1893 as the South Wales Daily Post but absorbed an older title, the 1861 foundation The Cambria Daily Leader, in 1930 to become the South Wales Daily Post & Cambria Leader before assuming its current name in 1932. It’s owned by South West Wales Media, part of the Northcliffe Media group, which was the regional and local newspaper publishing arm of the Daily Mail & General Trust until the end of November 2012, when it became the largest constituent part of the new Local World media group.
