Reliable Sources - CNN
Reliable Sources is TV's only weekly media criticism program, turning a critical lens on the media. Each week the program's host leads the scrutiny of the media's fairness and objectivity by questioning print and broadcast journalists, including those at CNN. Potential guests for the program include television correspondents, media analysts, and print journalists. The program covers a wide range of topics, such as media coverage of the presidency, Congress, and political campaigns, and questions of media bias in the coverage of religion and cultural diversity. Reliable Sources has also examined the propriety of the hidden camera, the controversy surrounding journalists who move in and out of government, and the press coverage of the private lives of public figures. PR professionals are advised to fax press releases to the program's news desk or to the appropriate member of its production team. Guests, which might include: media analysts, representatives from a large media outlet, or reporters from a specific outlet or publication, should be arranged through the program's guest booker. Due to the immense volume of information received, pitches are generally not taken over the phone. Keep faxes brief, but specific and include appropriate contact information. Send only information of interest to at least a national audience. Lead times vary depending on the story. Feature stories may take up to weeks to produce, while breaking news can be processed in minutes. Reliable Sources is viewed predominantly by adults interested in the media.
