Prosper is a people-to-people lending service. Borrowers request a specific loan amount up to $25,000 and list the maximum interest rate they are willing to pay. Lenders bid on the loan, offering a portion of the loan along with the interest rate they would like returned. At the end of the auction, the members who offered the lowest rates are combined into one loan which is then paid off in monthly installments for three years. Prosper administers the loan and repayment process. The loans can be for personal or business use, such as home improvement or a new business. Social networking sites can be valuable resources for tracking response and reaction to press releases, advertising campaigns, products and services.
