The Arizona NewsChannel is a 24-hour cable news network that simulcasts and replays newscasts from KTVK-TV (also known as 3TV). The network airs seven and a half hours of KTVK-TV news each weekday, four hours on Saturday and three hours on Sunday. The newscasts are recorded on servers at the cable provider, Cox Communications, Inc. and then replayed until the next live newscast. The news channel is a partnership between Cox Communications, Inc. which provides cable to 92 percent of the Phoenix market, and Belo Corp., which owns KTVK-TV. The network launched on November 4, 1996, and reaches an estimated 420,000 homes. The Arizona NewsChannel receives the majority of its information from the Associated Press, CNN and Conus (via the KTVK newscasts).
