PPower Is A State Of Mind
Background & Format: Launched in October 2008, Power Is A State Of Mind is a personal blog about "celebrities, night life, Manchester, fitness, creative writing, social media, confidence and events." Power is a State of Mind provides a mixture of lifestyle and celebrity content with Matt blogging about anything that is interest to him. Many posts are reviews of books that Matt has read and may include photographs. Others consist of updates of new meeting places for depression support groups, food fairs, restaurant deals, reviews of Netflix shows and nightclubs. He also does coverage of science-fiction conventions. The Blogger: Power is a State of Mind is written by Matt Tuckey who started the blog alongside his day job in order to cover mental health issues as well as Manchester nightlife. "Some of this may, in some way, help others. Or maybe it'll just entertain you for a while." PR opportunities: PR opportunities include news, reviews and interviews as well as guest posts. Matt says: "Tell the world about the superb city of Greater Manchester. If know of something quirky, awesome, bizzare or important happening, why not get involved? Show me your ideas of producing great literature. Do you perform excercises at a writing group? Do you compete in poetry slams / rap battles? Are you setting up a magazine? Power Lunch - CNBC
Power Lunch takes an up-close and personal look at the companies, people and hot trends driving the markets and influencing Wall Street and the economy, whether from the world of entertainment, media, real estate, technology or fashion. The hosts field viewer calls and e-mails that are answered by expert guests. Regular segments include Market Maven, focusing on financial news; Power Portfolio, featuring managers from major fund families; and Your Money, which focuses on issues facing young professionals such as managing debt, investing, buying a home and paying for college. The program also features updates on individual stocks from the Dow Jones Newswires Desk and answers to viewer calls and e-mails regarding individual stocks. PR professionals should be aware that CNBC typically covers only publicly-traded companies worth over 500 million dollars, the exception being a smaller company that is somehow directly related to a major national or international news story. PR professionals are advised to send press releases to the appropriate member of the program's production team or to the CNBC assignment desk. Non-breaking news pitches are rarely taken over the phone. Producers are interested in newsworthy CEOs, shrewd stock analysts, interesting fund managers and personal finance experts for guest appearances on the show. CEOs should only be pitched if they are a major name, have recently been in the news, have a great story to tell or can offer a unique take on everyday news. They are also interested in CEOs who are able to discuss their company's new technological developments or breakthrough products. Guests should first be pitched to individual segment producers. Show topics are very subjective and change on a day-to-day-basis. The program focuses on business and market news, but producers are also interested in politics and some lighter topics, including sports, pop culture and books. Books must have a business connection and some personal interest; they should not be dry, boring books with nothing but professional interest. Use your common sense before pitching to determine whether your book fits with the topics and atmosphere of this show. Contact the producers by e-mail. Make your points quickly and well in advance of the show; phone calls just before the show starts will be ignored. If you must contact them by phone, messages should be short and to-the-point.
