Plan UK Blogs
Plan UK Blogs are collection of commercial charity blogs based in London, aimed at a UK audience. Plan is a global children's charity, they work with children in the world's poorest countries to help them build a better future. The Plan UK charity was founded in 1937 and their aim is, "to work with the world's poorest children so they can move themselves from a life of poverty to a future with opportunity." Plan UK have five mission statements that include giving children access to safe drinking water, securing their educations, working with communities in disaster situations, inspiring children to make decisions that affect their lives and enabling families to earn a living and plan for their children's future. The Plan UK Blogs are a collection of four blogs and bring together a wide range of issues close to the heart of the charity. The blogs are contributed by staff members who work for Plan UK; however there are some contributions from guest bloggers and volunteers at the charity. The collection of blogs are updated quite frequently, with posts appearing almost daily across one of the six blogs on the Plan UK Blog site. The six blogs are made up of the Plan UK Blog, which provides the latest update and news from the charity. This is a place to announce any new developments from the charity and is less frequently than some of the other blogs. The second blog is a personal blog from Tanya Barron, who is the Plan UK Chief Executive. It is updated every month or so and provides insight and opinion from her. The third blog is Dr Unni Krishnan's personal blog, a medical doctor for over 20 years; Dr Krishnan is Plan International's Head of Disaster Preparedness and Response. The fourth blog is the Child sponsorship blog that examine what it's like to be a child sponsor where the sponsors share their experiences of sponsoring a child with Plan. The fifth and most active blog is Guest Bloggers, which is updated several times a month and periodically invites colleagues, peers and experts to contribute to this 'guest blog' and discuss issues relating to Plan's work. It is worth noting that each Bloggers' views are entirely their own and may not reflect the views of Plan. The final blog is the Youth Advisory Panel blog and it is written by Plan UK's Youth Advisory Panel also known as YAP. PR opportunities are not obvious due to the nature of the content on the blog, but also because a lot of the posts are a way for self-promotion by Plan UK. However, opportunities do exist, and if you have an idea or story the best way to contact the blog is on the email address provided above. Alternatively, the blog can be reached via telephone, post or on various social media platforms, especially Twitter where they are very active and responsive.
