PetrolBlog
PetrolBlog is the motoring world according to MajorGav – a different spin. A personal motoring weblog the site covers new car reviews, real world reviews, 1970s and 1980s cars, and car confessionals amongst other things. The blog was launched in February 2010 by Exeter-based Writer and Blogger Gavin Smith, otherwise known as MajorGav. He set up the site to combine his love for writing, blogging, motoring, social media, cars, tea and hobnobs. MajorGav also serves as the blog’s current Editor. PetrolBlog is independently-owned and self-published. In addition to delivering new car reviews, the site also takes a nostalgic look back at some classic cars from the 70s, 80s and 90s. Rather than taking a look at the technical and rational aspects of new car ownership, posts are written with the ‘real world’ in mind and focus more on the ‘emotional side’ of such purchases. The blog is broken into various categories including Reviews, 1970s & 1980s Cars, Bangers, Shatchbacks, PetrolBlog Waffle, Guest Bloggers and Events. Within those categories there are regular features including Yesterday's Specials, Bangerwatch, The PetrolBlog Point, Old Gold Top Gear, PetrolBlog Awards, PetrolBlog Meets, The PetrolBlog Fleet and Whatever Happened To? There appear to be no regular PR opportunities for PRs as the PetrolBlog is more of an online journal as opposed to a fully-fledged commercial site, although some guest blogging is available. However if you have feature ideas to promote the Editor is open to receiving correspondence and can be best reached via the email listed above or gavin@petrolblog.com. Alternatively the team can be contacted through the contact form, or on various social media platforms, especially Twitter, where Gavin is very active and responsive to tweets.
