Performance Today - American Public Media
Performance Today is a program that allows classical music lovers to experience the creative vitality of classical music firsthand. The show recreates the thrill of live concerts by world-renowned artists in concert halls around the globe, featuring classical music in concert from the American Public Media studios and sites around the world. Performance Today reaches approximately 1.4 million listeners weekly on 292 stations around the country. The lead time for submissions and guest interviews is two to eight weeks in advance. Concert submissions for broadcast are accepted, but they must be recorded on DAT. Cassettes are unacceptable. In addition, audio submissions should be accompanied by a program book from the concert and appropriate background information about the performers and the venue. Tapes are non-returnable. Legal proof showing that the performers have given permission to have their tape submitted is required. When trying to pitch an artist to the program, send a full press kit and performance tape, and allow time for a pre-interview. When pitching a new CD, just send the disc and a press release. Information may be sent by mail, or e-mail. The show offers a digital Podcast.
