Newsweek was founded in 1933 by former TIME foreign editor Thomas J.C. Martyn. It was later purchased in 1961 by The Washington Post Company, who in turn sold the publication to businessman Sidney Harman in 2010. Later that year, Newsweek merged operations with Tina Brown's The Daily Beast forming the short-lived Newsweek Daily Beast Company (or NewsBeast for short). In 2012 it was announced that the magazine would assume an all-digital format in 2013 and re-brand as Newsweek Global, with the December 31 edition being its last in print. Acquired by its current owner IBT Media in 2013, the print edition was resurrected in March 2014.

Houston Chronicle is a daily, morning newspaper written for the general public in Texas. The state's largest daily newspaper, it is also the only daily in Houston. The newspaper offers full market coverage focusing on local business news and events, state and national economics, personal finance, government, business, personal computing and technology. Feature topics include the arts, health, beauty, entertainment, fashion, food, lifestyle issues, home, gardening and travel. Types of articles found in the paper include breaking news, trends, features, local company profiles and syndicated columns. The Business section runs daily. The staff holds 30 minute meetings every morning at 11am and every evening at 4pm to discuss the previous edition, the current edition and the upcoming edition, if trying to reach a journalist please do not call during these times. The New York Times offers the latest news from around the world. It has several different editions for Eastern and national regions. In addition, the paper gets much of its content and reporting from its many bureaus. The foreign desk oversees correspondents and stringers around the world. Daily deadlines are usually between 5pm and 6pm ET. The paper does not accept artwork. The lead time for news coverage is one day to one week, the lead time for special section features is three weeks. The lead time for advertising is 30 days.
