MMore Than The Music
Background and Format: More Than The Music is a feminist collective of female music writers and photographers. It aims to be a safe space for women to get interested and involved in the heavily male dominated industry of music journalism. They don’t offer a feminist critique of music or only cover female musicians but the important factor is that they will be edited and supported by other women. It covers live music and album reviews, interviews, festivals and features. It also has a photo gallery. They also offer a Fast Five feature which enables artists with the chance to answer a quick fire round of 5 set questions. Audience and Readership: The title aims to re-address the issue that women are under-represented in music journalism and photography. The site aims to celebrate the talents of women and empower them by creating 'a virtual women only space to explore and develop their passions.' Monthly Unique Users: A figure is not available. Other information: Information for contributors can be found here. There is no generic email address or switchboard number. To find out more information, email Lisa Ward directly at lisa@morethanthemusic.co.uk
