KYW-TV is the CBS affiliate for the Philadelphia-area and broadcasts locally on channel 3. The station produces several newscasts throughout the day with all topics covered from a local angle. KYW-TV received its commercial license as WPTZ in 1941, becoming the third station with that designation in the United States, and the first outside New York. It operated independently until assuming NBC ownership and affiliation in 1956, and was renamed WRCV-TV. The station took on its current call letters in 1965 and switched to CBS affiliation in 1995.

Before becoming a FOX owned-and-operated station by Fox, WBRC-TV was an ABC affiliate. The station's history begins in 1928, as a radio station. Founded by M.D. Smith Jr., at the time, it was called WBRC Radio. In 1931, the station went from 500 to 5,000 watts. In 1932, the station employed 20 people and was an NBC affiliate. Mr. Smith died in 1937. In 1940, when fellow stock holder J.C. Bell died, Mr. Smith's widow, Eloise Smith became the sole owner. She married Dr. Hanna and became Eloise H. Hanna. She founded WBRC-TV in 1949, and in 1953, decided to retire. She sold WBRC-TV/AM-FM to Storer Broadcasting. In 1954, WBRC-TV made the switch to the CBS Network and on September 1, 1961 the station once again changed affiliates, this time to the ABC Network. On September 1, 1996, WBRC-TV became an affiliate of the FOX Network.
