Background and Format: Equity Capital Markets (ECMs) team deal with marketing, distribution and allocation of new issues, such as initial public offerings (IPOs), special warrants, and private placements. Along with stocks, the equity capital markets team will cover derivative instruments such as futures, options and swaps. They will report on news about a company's current financial situation as well as estimates of future performance. They will cover investments banks employed by companies to execute primary market transactions by managing the structure, syndication, marketing and distribution. They cover major players within the ECMs, which are large financial institutions like Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and UBS.
